The Way He Loves Us

This past Sunday, Pastor Mitchell’s message was about how God will not be mocked. He preached from the moments leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus, and how the people…the people HE created…were torturing and mocking Him at every turn…yet He went through with it. For us.

When Jesus was on the cross, he said, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me.”

He had never been separated from His Father until that point, but He took on the full pain and suffering of sin…for us. He had NO sin, but he fulfilled scripture from Psalms and took our punishment.

I was studying this tonight, and it just breaks my heart. He could have gotten free or called down angels to help…but He stayed. He stayed so that we might have a chance at knowing God. It breaks my heart to think of times when I do things I shouldn’t do or say things I shouldn’t say…when I know it’s not Gods way. He went through unimaginable pain and suffering for me..and for you…all He asks is for us to pick up our cross and follow Him and to keep His commandments.

He loves us so much. I love Him so much. I am far from perfect but He called me to Himself. He thought we were worth dying for, we should live our lives in such a way that it makes Him proud.

I’m trying every day.
