To My Son…

I prayed for you.

I truly didn’t think I’d have another child after having your sister.

You two will have a pretty significant age gap, but I believe you will be the best of friends. She adores you already. She checks in on you daily and kisses my belly. She tells you she loves you every single night before bed.

You are so incredibly loved. I cannot wait to kiss your cheeks, hands and feet.

I can’t wait to get to know you and witness your personality develop.

I pray that you are calm and confident, yet assertive. I pray that you know God, and get to live a long beautiful and happy life.

I pray that you are slow to anger. I pray that you don’t take yourself too seriously and know when to let loose and have a good belly laugh.

I pray that even though you will be the baby brother, that you take care of your sister when you get older. I know that she will do her best to help me take care of you.

I pray that we have the best relationship. I want you to tell me any and everything and know that I won’t judge you, but I’ll be there for you whenever and however you need me.

Don’t be afraid to show your softer side. Enjoy the smell of fresh flowers, watch more than just action movies, laugh at corny dad jokes, enjoy a good book and a good meal.

I prayed for you Ellis. God knew you were just what I needed. You’re not here yet, but I am so deeply in love with you already and I know everyone else will be too.

I promise to tell you I love you every day. And when you get older-and I won’t care if it’s embarrassing- I will make you tell me every day too.
